Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the Retired and Realizing community, the Next Chapter Pilot program, and your transition into life after public service.

What is Retired and Realizing?

Retired and Realizing is a community built for public service retirees — correctional professionals, law enforcement, EMS, fire, and probation — who are stepping into life after the badge. This isn't generic retirement content. It's built by someone who lived 26+ years in the work and knows exactly what this transition feels like. Here, you'll find real talk, real community, and real permission to reclaim your identity, your joy, and your income on your own terms.

Who is this community for?

Retired and Realizing is for any and all public service retirees — correctional professionals, law enforcement, EMS, fire, and probation — and for anyone approaching that milestone who's already feeling the questions start to surface. Whether you're newly retired and still finding your footing, a few months in and starting to dream again, or fully ready to build something new — there's a place for you here.

What is the Next Chapter Pilot?

The Next Chapter Pilot is a free, live 3-session experience on Zoom, built specifically for public service retirees who are ready to move through Recognition, Reclaiming, and Reimagining — the three stages of this transition. Sessions are held October 5, 7, and 9, 2026 at 12:00 noon ET. This is an intimate group, capped at 10-15 people, so there is real room for connection — not a webinar you disappear into.

Is the pilot really free?

Yes. The Next Chapter Pilot is completely free. This is our way of opening the door to this community and getting to know each other before anything else is built. There's no catch, no upsell in the room — just three live sessions built to give you something real.

Will there be replays if I can't make a session live?

No — the Next Chapter Pilot is live-only, with no replays. That's intentional. This is a small, connected group of 10-15 people moving through Recognition, Reclaiming, and Reimagining together in real time, and that kind of presence and connection doesn't translate the same way through a recording. If you commit to the three dates, come ready to be fully in the room.

Do I have to be a retired correctional professional to join?

No. While Geezell's lived experience is 26+ years as a correctional professional, Retired and Realizing welcomes all public service retirees — law enforcement, EMS, fire, and probation included. If you gave decades of your life to serving others in a role most people never fully understand, you belong here.

I'm not tech-savvy — will that hold me back?

Not even a little. You spent 20+ years mastering complex, high-stakes systems. A Zoom link and a Facebook group are nothing compared to that. If you can click a link, you can be here. Full instructions will be sent ahead of every session, and nobody in this community is going to make you feel behind for asking a question.

How do I join the community outside of the pilot sessions?

The Retired and Realizing Facebook Group is where the conversation continues between sessions and beyond. It's an admin-approved space, which means everyone in there is exactly who they say they are — a public service retiree navigating this same chapter. You can request to join through the link on our site or in your welcome email after signing up for the pilot.

What if I'm just starting to think about retirement — is this too early for me?

It's not too early at all. Some of the most powerful moments in this community come from people who are 1-2 years out and want to walk into retirement with their eyes open instead of blindsided by it. You don't have to wait until the badge is already off to start finding your people.

How do I get started?

Reserve your spot for the Next Chapter Pilot — space is limited to 10-15 people. Once you're registered, you'll get everything you need by email, including how to join the Facebook Group. That's it. You don't need a plan. You just need to show up.
